Mazda's new-generation all-wheel drive system i-Activ AWD offers confident handling in any road conditions and can adapt to the environment. At the same time, it is the basis of the On-Road Traction Assist function. This system helps prevent wheel spin and minimize energy loss by instantly optimally distributing power between the front and rear wheels - improving both handling in poor conditions and fuel economy. It achieves this by continuously monitoring road conditions due to various factors such as road gradient and outside temperature, as well as determining minimum front wheel slip. In addition, i-Activ AWD assesses your intent through your steering actions to fine-tune the torque distribution. The active demand system automatically controls power distribution and does not require you to make a decision, allowing you to keep your focus on the road.

Conventional internal combustion engines use only about 30% of the potential energy of the fuel they consume: the rest goes to waste. That's why Mazda developed the high-efficiency Skyactiv-G engine, which compresses the air-fuel mixture more than conventional power units and gets more energy from every drop of fuel. This high compression ratio, unmatched among mass-produced engines, ensures both high driving pleasure and high fuel economy.
